Manchester United are keen to add a goalkeeper and new midfielder before the 7pm transfer deadline

Manchester United target Angelo Stiller is expected to stay at Stuttgart once the transfer window closes, it has been reported by Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are in the market for a more agile midfielder to play alongside Bruno Fernandes. Casemiro is the first-choice for the position as things stand but Ruben Amorim is keen to upgrade.

United held a strong interest in Brighton and Hove Albion gem Carlos Baleba but the club will not be proceeding with a deal this summer. The Seagulls value Baleba in the same region as Moises Caicedo. He joined Chelsea for £115m in 2023 and the Amex Stadium outfit did not want to sell Baleba and would not have considered anything below £100m - a figure unaffordable to the Red Devils this summer.

Angelo Stiller expected to stay at Stuttgart

Taking to X, Fabrizio Romano said of Stiller’s future: “Angelo Stiller, expected to stay at Stuttgart this summer as there are zero negotiations underway now.”

However, that update has now appeared to have been deleted as United’s move for Stiller looks unlikely at this stage. The Red Devils are still interested in Baleba and are likely to return for the midfielder next summer.

Ruben Amorim wants new additions before transfer deadline

The pressure was eased on United boss Ruben Amorim on Saturday as the Red Devils beat Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford thanks to a late Bruno Fernandes penalty. However, the game saw Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount both sustain injuries.

Amorim hopes to add to his squad before the transfer deadline. He said: "I am always speaking with them [the club] to try and improve the team.

"It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount, because Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury.

“I’m concerned about that, because they are so important for us. We will see. I don’t know [how they are], I don’t know.

“We will check them. We need those guys really bad to be really competitive."
