Crystal Palace beat Leeds in two-horse race to sign £15.5m La Liga attacker - Romano

Deadline day is upon us and Leeds United are expected to be busy ahead of Monday’s deadline, with Daniel Farke keen for his side to bring in one or two new attacking options.

Farke made it publicly clear that Leeds need more weaponry up front, having managed just one goal in three Premier League games. That goal came from the penalty spot on the opening day against Everton.

But Leeds have so far, been met with frustration. Bilal El Khannouss is set to join Stuttgart for £26m, while Facundo Buonanotte has chosen Chelsea over Leeds. They are not the only ones to overlook Elland Road.

Gus Hamer is set for PSV Eindhoven and Eduard Spertsyan has ruled out leaving Krasnodar before the deadline. Leeds’ options are dwindling fast and now, another option has chosen to join Crystal Palace.

Christantus Uche makes decision with Leeds pushing for a deal

Christantus Uche has been strongly linked with Leeds for much of the window. It comes after the Nigeria international had an excellent first season at Getafe, having been signed as an unknown for just £500k.

Over the weekend, reports said Leeds and Palace were pushing hard to sign Uche with a £15.5m fee required. But now, Fabrizio Romano has an update, and it is that Uche has agreed to join Palace.

Romano posted on X: “Christantus Uche, in London to sign at Crystal Palace today as deal is now verbally agreed. Getafe expect all formal steps to be respected on Monday to sell Uche.”

Leeds United are quickly running out of options on the last day

With El Khannouss, Uche, Spertsyan and Buonanotte no longer on the table, it seems Leeds are lacking in options going into the final day. Of course, there always remains the possibility of Manor Solomon.

Solomon is keen to join a Premier League club on the final day, but Farke wants a player who can play in numerous attacking positions. Solomon is solely a winger and, really, a left-winger at the top-flight level.

The other option is that Leeds target a player yet to be linked with Leeds. The swings and roundabouts of deadline day could see a player become available who was not previously available, prior to deadline day.
