Leeds United rocked as £22m star rejects deadline day transfer

Leeds United are in the market for attacking reinforcements on the final day of the transfer window. The club are in desperate need of adding more goals and creativity to their team, and they are working hard to bring in at least one or two forwards today.

Daniel Farke has made it clear that without the necessary attacking additions, Leeds could struggle to keep themselves in the Premier League this season. He wants the club to bring in two players—a striker and an attacking midfielder—before the window closes later today.

Leeds thought they had a deal in place to sign Brighton attacking midfielder Facundo Buonanotte. Still, Chelsea barged in and hijacked the move by convincing the player to move to Elland Road in the ongoing transfer window.

The Yorkshire giants have turned to other players, and the club are working hard behind the scenes to finalise the arrival of a couple more attacking reinforcements before the window closes later this evening.

Leeds United transfer blow as Eduard Spertsyan rejects deadline day switch

Eduard Spertsyan is one of the players Leeds are tracking ahead of the end of the window, and the club are now keen to explore the possibility of signing him.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has already scored four times in seven appearances in the Russian top flight this season, and several clubs have been monitoring him.

Spertsyan was in action on Sunday, amidst talk of him leaving Krasnodar, but it seems he has shut down rumours of his departure on deadline day.

“All championships are good. I want to play in the Champions League and the European Cups”, he was quoted as saying by LeedsUnited.News.

“In the winter, anything is possible.”

It appears the attacking midfielder will not be leaving for the Premier League or Leeds today, but he has not ruled out a transfer in the winter transfer window.

His current contract with Krasnodar will expire at the end of the season.

Leeds will now have to look at other options

Leeds are rapidly running out of targets and time, and the club need to get a grip of things before it’s too late today.

Buonanotte is set to join Chelsea, and Bilal El Khannouss will undergo a medical today ahead of joining VfB Stuttgart on a permanent deal from Leicester City.

Leeds have other options, such as Sheffield United’s Gustavo Hamer, and they could still make a move to sign Manor Solomon on loan from Tottenham.

However, they are running out of hours to do deals and need to move fast before the window slams shut later this evening.
