Manchester United are hoping to complete several deals - ins and outs- on transfer deadline day
It is set to be a busy transfer deadline day at Manchester United on Monday with the Red Devils eager to sign some players and offload a number of others before the 7pm cut off.
The Red Devils won 3-2 at home to Burnley on Saturday afternoon and after the transfer window shuts, attention will move to the international break. United return to action against Manchester City when the Premier League action resumes in mid-September.
United have several players they want to offload before the deadline and one move looks set to be wrapped up without a hitch with a medical completed on Sunday afternoon.
Rasmus Hojlund completes Napoli medical
Sky Sports have reported that United striker Rasmus Hojlund has completed his medical at Napoli ahead of a proposed move to the Serie A club. The move includes a conditional obligation to buy of £43m.
United paid £72m for Hojlund two years ago but the Danish striker endured a torrid campaign in 2024-25 and has been deemed surplus to requirements following the arrival of Benjamin Sesko.
The RB Leipzig striker has yet to start a Premier League game for United but Hojlund was below him and Joshua Zirkzee in the pecking order.
Explaining his decision making over Sesko’s game-time, manager Ruben Amorim said after the win over Burnley: “Everything is connected. So he finished the game [against Grimsby] with cramps, really in the limit and that’s why we protected Ben from the penalties and today was that reason also because Josh [Zirkzee] is also a striker, an international striker.
“But I was thinking that Ben during the pre-season didn’t do 90 minutes and he did that even against a fourth-division team. He did that on Wednesday. With the problem of Cunha, you don’t know if that full game in the middle of the week has something to do with the injury today.
“With the problem with Mason Mount, I was not risking another player not knowing if they are able to play so many minutes. So everything was connected - the penalty, the game on Wednesday and the number of minutes I was thinking for Ben today.”
