Manchester United have been desperate to offload their unwanted players this summer - and their desperation is clear in the sale of Antony to Real Betis.

United signed Antony from Ajax for £81million just two years ago, and are now flogging him to Betis for €25m (£21m) plus a potential €3m (£2.6m) in bonuses, according to , who report that they will have a 50 per cent sell-on clause.

They have at least got rid of his wages, but that is quite the loss on the Brazilian winger.

With Alexander Isak heading over to Merseyside today for a medical with Liverpool, Newcastle fans will be awaiting news of a new striker arriving at St James' Park.

The Magpies have been chasing Yoane Wissa all summer, with the Brentford striker increasingly frustrated with his club's stance. Wissa has suggested that the goalposts have been moved, with a £40m fee no longer acceptable and £65m wanted. He remains in limbo today.

Newcastle have also seen bids rejected by Wolves for Jorgen Strand Larsen. They have signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, but really need two strikers after losing Callum Wilson to West Ham on a free transfer.

Martinez to Man Utd situation

Manchester United could move to sign a goalkeeper today to fix a problem that has been obvious all summer.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have been anything but reliable - and Aston Villa's Emi Martinez is on the cards.

Unai Emery left him out of the Aston Villa squad last night and admitted the situation needed resolving. "It is not helping us. One of the circumstances not helping," he said after Villa lost 3-0 against Crystal Palace.

"We will see how we close the transfer window. We have a lot of circumstances that are not helping us be mentally like we were last year."

Asked why he was left out, Emery replied: "He was not available. Tomorrow is the deadline, and we will see how we finish. We need the players focused and 100 per cent. He wasn't. We will see tomorrow. I cannot tell anything more. I don't know, this is the reality. We will see tomorrow."

Liverpool chase double deal

Liverpool appear to have everything in place for Alexander Isak, but they also want to land Marc Guehi today.

The Crystal Palace captain played and scored in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa last night and his situation appears more complicated.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner has made it clear that he wants to keep Guehi, but with less than a year left on his contract, can they afford to walk away from a £40million deal?

We will wait and see.

It has been widely reported that Liverpool have now agreed a deal with Newcastle to sign Alexander Isak and end the saga of the summer.

This outcome always felt likely, but a Premier League record deal for £130million remains a blockbuster deal.

reports that everything is agreed and Isak will undergo a medical today before signing a six-year contract with Liverpool.

The change of stance comes after Newcastle landed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart, while they continue to chase another striker - either Brentford's Yoane Wissa, or Wolves' Jorgen Strand Larsen.
