The deadline day deals Newcastle United could target as Alexander Isak on the verge of joining Liverpool.
Newcastle United head into the remaining 12 hours of the summer transfer window looking to sign a striker.
The Magpies have agreed to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British record £130million, with the Swede due on Merseyside later this morning to undergo his medical and put pen to paper on a six-year deal.
Eddie Howe’s side have already signed Isak’s long-term replacement after smashing the £63m they paid for the 25-year-old to sign German striker Nick Woltemade from Bundesliga side Stuttgart for £69m.
But the loss of Callum Wilson earlier this summer still leaves the squad a striker light, and Newcastle hope that can be filled before tonight’s 7pm transfer deadline. Here, we take a look at the deadline day deals Newcastle may look to strike:
Yoane Wissa to Newcastle United
Yoane Wissa is desperate to join Newcastle and on Sunday morning made a last-gasp attempt to make the move happen after releasing a lengthy statement via Instagram.
In the statement, the 28-year-old accused Brentford of going back on a written promise that said he could leave if a “reasonable offer was received”.
In the last line, the DR Congo international wrote: “I ask Brentford’s owners and directors to now keep their word to let me leave in the final hours of the transfer window.”

Newcastle last week saw a £40m bid turned down, with the Bees holding out for a reported £65m unless they can sign a replacement. That search took a hit at the weekend Borussia Dortmund rejected their £45m bid for Max Beier.
Jorgen Strand Larsen to Newcastle United
Newcastle had a £50m and £55m bid rejected last week but still retain an interest in Strand Larsen, who is keen on the move.
But like Wissa, a deal is proving difficult, with Wolves adamant the Norwegian is not for sale, despite the incoming £23m arrival of Tolu Arokodare from Belgian side Genk.
Nicolas Jackson to Newcastle United
Newcastle enquired about Nicolas Jackson last month, so could he become a possibility today?
The Senegalese striker flew to Munich on Saturday after Bayern Munich agreed a £13m loan deal with a £56.2million option to buy, however the transfer was dramatically pulled by Chelsea following an injury to Liam Delap in their game against Fulham.
The expectation was that Jackson would return to Stamford Bridge and provide cover for Joao Pedro, but the Blues have since reached an agreement with Sunderland to recall Marc Guiu from his loan spell, which suggests Jackson could still leave.
Harrison Ashby out on loan
Ashby is yet to make a competitive appearance for Newcastle since joining from West Ham United in January 2023, and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Swansea City and Queens Park Rangers.

The 23-year-old featured for Howe’s side in pre-season and impressed in the Sela Cup match against Atletico Madrid, but has been unable to win a place in a Premier League matchday squad.
Another loan to the Championship, or perhaps even a sale, appears plausible.
Alex Murphy out on loan
The Republic of Ireland youngster spent the second half of last season on loan at League One side Bolton Wanderers. Another loan spell, either the same level or potentially higher, could be make or break for Murphy on Tyneside.
