Sunderland have reportedly agreed a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Dutch defender Lutsharel Geertruida on deadline day.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Geertruida is set to join the Black Cats on loan with the option to buy. He has been granted permission to head to the UK to undergo a medical before completing his move to the Stadium of Light.

Geertruida is a versatile right-back who can also be deployed at centre-back and defensive midfield, providing vital depth for Regis Le Bris and his club's return to the Premier League. He has earned 17 caps for the Netherlands and joins a list of impressive acquisitions, including Granit Xhaka, who arrived from the Bundesliga.
