Newcastle back in for Jackson and PSG star if Wissa move fails – Sky Germany

Deadline day has kicked off with the news that Alexander Isak is on his way to Liverpool.

The £130m deal sees Newcastle land a Premier League record fee, but it’s absolutely essential that a striker arrives in his place before the 7pm deadline tonight.

An update has arrived from Sky Germany’s chief writer Florian Plettenberg on two forwards who are in Newcastle’s thinking as we look to pair £69m Nick Woltemade with a much-needed Callum Wilson replacement.

In a post on X, he reveals that Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson and PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani are now ‘two players to watch’ on deadline day for Newcastle fans, with The Guardian also reporting on our renewed interest in the Blues striker.

It seems a move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa remains a priority and is still being worked on as we speak, but the Senegalese forward and French international could be next in line if no progress is made soon on Wissa:

Plettenberg said: ‘Nicolas Jackson and Randal Kolo Muani (if the Yoane Wissa deal collapses) are now two players to watch on Deadline Day for Newcastle United.

‘FC Bayern have also considered Kolo Muani – even before Jackson. The problem was and still is: Paris Saint-Germain only want a loan – with an obligation to buy.’

Jackson had agreed to join Bayern in a loan-to-buy deal, but was recalled by Chelsea following a eight-week hamstring injury to Liam Delap over the weekend.

However, since then, Chelsea have recalled striker Marc Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland, with Bayern now looking elsewhere as they pursue Ademola Lookman instead.

As for Muani, he is no longer joining former club Juventus, with the Italians agreeing a deal for RB Leipzig’s Lois Openda this morning instead, leaving PSG on the lookout for a late sale or loan-to-buy exit.
