‘Total agreement’ reached for West Ham exit on deadline day – Travelling to complete permanent move

Back in June, we covered claims from France about Marseille’s desire to sign West Ham United’s Nayef Aguerd this summer.

The centre-back returned to West Ham after a loan spell with Real Sociedad last season. He started in first two league games and in the Hammers’ EFL Cup loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On Sunday, Graham Potter left him out of the squad in West Ham’s 3-0 league win over Nottingham Forest. This is likely to do with his impending move to the Ligue 1 club.

Foot Mercato have a report on the 29-year-old, titled ‘total agreement reached for Nayef Aguerd.’

Marseille president Pablo Longoria and sporting director Medhi Benatia had identified the defender as a target this summer. There weren’t any movements until they reactivated the track leading to the Morocco international in recent days.

The French club accelerated and have now reached an agreement with West Ham to sign him for a deal around €23m. They also convinced the player for a contract until 2030.

Foot Mercato say the former Stade Rennais man will leave England and return to France in the next few hours.

L’Equipe also report Roberto De Zerbi’s side reached an agreement with the Hammers on Sunday evening. They make no mention of the fee or the formula of the operation.

They add Aguerd is expected to arrive in France soon to complete a deadline day move to Marseille.
