Everton are still in need of several recruits on transfer deadline day.

David Moyes wants more reinforcements at Everton after the Toffees already brought in the likes of Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Jack Grealish has been the best of Everton’s additions, starting his career at the Hill Dickinson Stadium with four assists.

However, the Friedkin Group need to bring in more quality if they are to achieve Moyes’ ambitions of qualifying for Europe.

How many signings Everton want on deadline day

Everton are expected to be active on deadline day, but supporters may be disappointed after a new update on their plans emerged.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Merseyside-based journalist Dom King has heard that the Blues are trying to sign a centre-back and believes that they will only get one deal done.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 1 September (7:16 am), he said: “David is trying to get one deal done today, possibly for a centre-half, somebody that can fill in on the left.

“He would like to do two, but I think one is more realistic.”

Latest update will be concerning for Everton supporters

It is encouraging that the Blues are still trying to make multiple deals happen before the 19:00 pm deadline, but King’s update is concerning.

The Toffees need a right-back, with centre-back Jake O’Brien currently Moyes’ preferred option in the position, lacking the natural attacking traits of a traditional full-back.

They could also do with a midfielder to bolster their numbers in the engine room, and to allow Harrison Armstrong to go on loan, which will further his development.

Given that Jarrad Branthwaite is injured, it makes sense that they are targeting a centre-back, after a deal to sign Victor Lindelof fell through, with the former Manchester United man set to join Aston Villa.

However, the other areas are arguably bigger concerns for Moyes and Co., and with not too long left in the window, they should be the priority.

If they fail to bring in another right-back and a midfielder, it could severely hamper Moyes’ plans for the campaign and set the Blues back in their rebuild plans under the new ownership.

It remains to be seen how many they bring in before the window shuts, but the update will be a worry given what the Merseysiders still need in terms of recruits.
