Manchester United youngster Ethan Ennis is set to join Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan.
Ennis spent the last six months of last term on loan with Doncaster Rovers as they secured promotion from League Two. He will now join Fleetwood on a season-long deal.
The youngster will be available to make his Fleetwood debut on Tuesday night and there is no option to make the move permanent included in the deal. Plymouth Argyle made an offer to sign Ennis on loan for 2025/2026, but the decision was made to sign for Fleetwood ahead of the transfer deadline.
Ennis was given a new two-year United contract last summer as his previous deal expired in 2025.
Although Ennis has played in each attacking position for the academy, it's thought his long-term future will be on the left wing and he is building a reputation as a goalscoring winger.
Ennis began his career with rivals Liverpool, but he was signed by United in the summer of 2021 and he was the standout signing for the academy in an otherwise quiet window.
The youngster signed his first professional contract immediately after celebrating his 17th birthday and only the most highly regarded academy talents are given pro deals so quickly.
However, disaster struck in August 2022 when it was confirmed that he'd ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee. Ennis faced a long road to recovery after that injury but he made up for lost time after that 14-month lay-off and has quickly got back to his best.
The Cheshire-born youngster scored 10 goals in 19 appearances for United's Under-18s in 2021/22, his first full season at the club, and his finishing ability is one of his finest qualities.
