'Here we go!' - Fabrizio Romano confirms £21.7m Man United deal as medical update given

Manchester United are clearing out their squad on deadline day and Antony is on the brink of completing his exit to Real Betis.

Last summer, Antony thrived at Real Betis after leaving Manchester United to join the Spanish side on loan.

Since returning to England, Antony has only wanted to return to Betis, but the La Liga side struggled to afford United’s asking price.

The transfer saga has continued all the way into deadline day, but finally United have agreed to sell Antony for £21.6m and have ironed out all of the details with Betis to get a deal over the line.

Fabrizio Romano gives ‘Here we go’ to Antony deal

Betis and United had come to an agreement earlier this week, but there were still issues in Antony’s exit that needed to be sorted.

Importantly, Antony wanted his drop in wages to be covered, but United weren’t willing to pay him a termination fee. After further discussions, the Red Devils have avoided paying an extra fee to offload the Brazilian.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano gave his iconic ‘Here we go’ post to confirm Antony’s sale, and he provided extra details about the move on X.

Antony set for Real Betis medical, announcement set to follow

With the transfer deadline set to close at 7pm, the clock is ticking to get the Antony deal completely over the line.

Romano revealed that Antony is travelling to Sevilla to complete a medical imminently with Betis before signing his contract and finalising the deal.

An official announcement from both clubs will follow to confirm Antony’s permanent transfer. He is set to become United’s second permanent sale of the summer after Alejandro Garnacho’s £40 million move to Chelsea was confirmed.
