Fabrizio Romano clarifies whether Liverpool will pay £125m or £130m for Alexander Isak

Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool is finally set to get over the line.

For the vast majority of the summer transfer window, rumours about Isak’s future have dominated headlines, and although Newcastle were demanding £150million, things had reached a point of no return.

It’s also been clear since both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz were sold earlier in the window that Liverpool needed to bring in two attackers.

And, although they’ll now have two world-class number nines among their ranks, there will be ways and means to get both players into Arne Slot’s starting XI.

Since Isak’s Anfield switch has been the talk of the town for most of the summer, it’s not a surprise to see deadline day also get dominated by the deal.

Fabrizio Romano clarifies why Liverpool will pay £130million for Alexander Isak

Although all the reports are saying that Isak to Liverpool is a done deal, one thing that can’t seem to be agreed upon is the price that the Reds are paying.

Ben Jacobs, for example, shared that the fee for the Sweden international will be worth around £125million, whereas Telegraph journalist, Luke Edwards, reported that the fee would be bang on £130million.

Now, however, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update via his personal X account on the actual fee that the Anfield outfit will be paying.

Alexander Isak could end up being the signing of the transfer window

Although Liverpool have already welcomed players such as Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike through the Anfield doors, there’s no hiding from the fact that Isak is on another level.

The number nine was one of the best strikers in the world last season, and the fact that he’s already proven he has what it takes to score 20+ goals in the Premier League is exactly what Slot’s men need.

Of course, Mohamed Salah is still likely to be the star of the show once he gets into his groove, but the fact that the Anfield outfit have a threat like Isak to cover for Salah once his contract expires in 2027 shows how well-planned out this move was.

As mentioned, Isak’s arrival will mean that Ekitike won’t likely see as much time in his preferred number nine role, but on the face of things, it’s a move that makes a lot of sense.

To make things easier for Slot to fit both players into his team, Ekitike will likely be used on the left wing if and when needed.
