Aston Villa begin talks over potential Jadon Sancho deal, Man Utd flop could link up with former teammate

Jadon Sancho is running out of time to secure a move away from Manchester United.

Manchester United’s stance on Jadon Sancho has remained the same throughout the summer.

Sancho knew from the moment his Chelsea loan ended that he did not have a future at Old Trafford. Ruben Amorim told five outcasts to train away from the group for pre-season, with Sancho among them.

That means the 25-year-old has had to train alone this summer, and he has yet to find a new club.

Now, we have reached deadline day, and Sancho remains a United player despite not featuring in any of the first four games of the 2025/26 season. That is unlikely to change, even if Sancho fails to make a move before the 7 pm deadline.

It’s often billed as the busiest day of the year, but only time will tell if Sancho will be able to find a new club.

Otherwise, Sancho will be stuck at Old Trafford, where he isn’t wanted, until January at least.

Jadon Sancho in talks with Aston Villa

Sancho’s entourage held talks with Aston Villa on Sunday.

The England international has seen moves to Chelsea, Napoli, Juventus and Turkey fail to come to fruition as issues arose over the financial package.

United believe the onus is on Sancho to drop his wage demands as they have significantly dropped their asking price.

Now, Villa, who managed to strike a deal for Marcus Rashford in January, are in talks over a deal. They would prefer a loan, but United are not keen on Sancho only having 12 months left on his current contract, and they don’t want to extend it.

The two clubs held talks on Sunday over Emiliano Martinez, with United looking to land the Argentine. Prospective deals for Sancho and Martinez would be separate.

Speaking to United In Focus, Graeme Bailey said: “Sancho wants to leave United and they want him out, but he has made it clear he will only leave if he is happy with the deal.

“United I am told, are ‘desperate’ to see Sancho leave the club on Monday. If he stays, he would almost certainly be training with the youth team until January.”

Sancho’s former club Borussia Dortmund are still being linked with prospective interest.

The move could see Sancho link up with Victor Lindelof, who joined Villa on a Bosman deal earlier this week.

When did Sancho last play for Man Utd?

Sancho has never been allowed to prove himself under Ruben Amorim.

The England winger joined United for £73 million four years ago, but he flopped before falling out with Erik ten Hag and has been made an outcast ever since.

Sancho last played for United in August 2024 in the Community Shield.

That appears to be his final appearance for the club, even if he doesn’t secure a move away on deadline day.

Otherwise, it will be a long year for Sancho.
