Just in: Aston Villa now eyeing deadline-busting move to sign 'dangerous' Newcastle star

Aston Villa are reportedly among several clubs that could swoop for Newcastle United striker William Osula on transfer deadline day.

Simon Jones of Mail Sport reports that the Villans are looking for a new forward in the last hours of the summer transfer window. Their transfer business has been limited due to PSR restrictions.

Osula has been reintegrated into Eddie Howe's first team this season amid Alexander Isak's refusal to play and pushing to join Liverpool. The young Danish striker netted in a 3-2 defeat to the Reds earlier this month.

Villa are set for a busy end to the window, with speculation growing over Emiliano Martinez's future, as the Argentine goalkeeper is linked with Manchester United. The Villans are in discussions with the Red Devils over a separate deal for Jadon Sancho, who has been frozen out of Rubem Amorim's first team.

Another attacker is seemingly desired and could see the West Midlands outfit make a late move for the "dangerous" Osula, who could be available. Newcastle's club-record deal for Nick Woltemade and their ongoing pursuit of Brentford's Yoane Wissa could mean the Dane departs before the 7 PM deadline.

Villa have made a concerning start to the season and were beaten 3-0 by Crystal Palace on Sunday night. They have been in the market for new attackers and were keen on re-signing Marco Asensio permanently until Fenerbahce hijacked their move for the Paris Saint-Germain star.

Osula has been with Newcastle since last summer when he arrived from Sheffield United in a £15m deal. The 22-year-old has struggled to secure regular game time, and that is likely to continue despite Isak heading to Liverpool in a British transfer record £125m deal.

There is no word on whether Villa want to do a permanent deal or sign the Dane on loan with little time left of the transfer window. He has four years left on his contract at St James' Park.
