Exclusive: Mark Clattenburg says VAR made another major error in Villa vs Palace, 'cannot understand'...

Mark Clattenburg has exclusively told TBR Football that PGMOL made a huge error in the Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace clash.

Crystal Palace absolutely battered Aston Villa on Sunday night, with Oliver Glasner’s side rampant in a 3-0 victory against the Villa.

In what looked like Marc Guehi’s farewell match, he scored the pick of the goals as Unai Emery continues his torrid start to the 25/26 Premier League campaign.

It was a game, again, swamped with controversy, with a few dubious decisions. One of which Mark Clattenburg has had his say on.

Exclusive: Mark Clattenburg says Matty Cash should have had a red card

According to the former Premier League referee Clattenburg, PGMOL made an error in not sending off Matty Cash.

Speaking exclusively to TBR Football, he said: “The challenge by Matty Cash on Daichi Kamada was a poor challenge and deserved a red card. Cash comes in with speed and catches his opponent with his studs above the ankle, which could have risked a bad injury.

“This should have been a red card, and again, I cannot understand what the VAR is looking at when it comes to these types of challenges.”

Cash’s challenge was a bad one, and he was very lucky to remain on the pitch. For Villa, it didn’t exactly matter too much, with the result going heavily in favour of Palace.

That said, it could have been a lot worse if the Polish right-back departed in the early stages.

Jean Philippe-Mateta got same punishment

Remarkably, Palace’s first goalscorer, Jean-Philippe Mateta, received the same punishment as Cash, a yellow card, for booting the corner flag after he dispatched his penalty.

Comical. And yet another PGMOL error just three games into the Premier League season.
