Man United winger set for loan exit after joining from Liverpool in 2021

Manchester United are stepping up their pursuit to send their academy stars on a season-long loan with only a few hours left in the transfer window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, youngster Ethan Ennis is set to join Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan.

The loan comes without an option to buy, confirming United rate him highly and will make a decision on his future next summer.

Fleetwood was not the only team interested in signing Ennis, with United declining a loan offer from Plymouth Argyle earlier.

Ennis began his career with Liverpool, scoring five goals in eight Under-18 appearances.

He rejected the opportunity to renew his contract with the Reds before completing his transfer to United in 2021.

The Merseyside club were keen to hand him a new deal after he smashed a hat-trick in the FA Youth Cup.

After making progress at United’s famed academy, Ennis was allowed to complete a loan move to Doncaster Rovers for the second half of the 2025-26 season.

He failed to stand out and will look to make the most of his new loan spell.

The 20-year-old penned a two-year deal last summer with the Red Devils recognising his untapped potential.

He is predominantly a left-winger but has displayed his versatility by successfully operating across the entire front line.

Ennis has an impressive record at United, netting 19 goals and recording five assists in 43 games for the youth teams.

United confirmed the temporary departure of Ethan Williams to Falkirk yesterday.

Their fellow academy starlet Harry Amass is also expected to seal a loan move before today’s transfer deadline.
