Following Emiliano Martínez waving goodbye to Aston Villa supporters towards the end of last season, there were endless claims from Argentina of an impending move to Manchester United.
Those claims were largely brushed aside until multiple UK media sources found out it had actually all been true, and the stories had clearly been leaked by the goalkeeper’s entourage.
Despite that, Manchester United have faced difficulties reaching an agreement with Aston Villa, and with just hours of the window left it still isn’t finalised.
Martínez wasn’t in Aston Villa’s match-day squad for the loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday, and Unai Emery was clearly frustrated when speaking to the media about the situation.
Given Aston Villa may need a goalkeeper quickly, by quickly we mean before 7pm, multiple options have been linked.
One of those is FC Porto’s Diogo Costa, but [O Jogo](http://ojogo.pt) have a calming messages for fans of the club. According to the Portuguese newspaper there’s been _‘no contact for Diogo’,_ and he’s _‘safe at FC Porto’._
O Jogo go on to add: _‘In any case, Porto’s SAD has not yet received any contact regarding the transfer of the goalkeeper, who is protected by a €75m clause and the intention is to keep him.’_
