Paul Joyce shares how much Everton are expected to pay Freiburg for Merlin Rohl

Everton are working on a potential deal to sign midfielder Merlin Rohl from Bundesliga outfit SC Freiburg on deadline day.

A busy day lies ahead for the Everton transfer chiefs at Finch Farm, who have had their work cut out all summer.

Angus Kinnear had an unprecedented task at Everton when he landed at the club from Leeds United earlier this summer.

It has been a positive week for David Moyes, who has seen three wins from Everton’s last three games across all competitions.

But new additions are being eyed on Merseyside on Monday.

Everton are now exploring a move for Rohl, who has been a long-standing target for the Blues all summer.

The Toffees are up against the clock, but a fee is already being suggested for the 23-year-old German midfielder.

What Merlin Rohl is expected to cost Everton

The Toffees have been eyeing Rohl all summer long, and it seems a late opportunity may have presented itself for the Blues.

Everton are keen to add a midfielder on deadline day, with Idrissa Gana Gueye set to depart over the winter for AFCON.

According to Paul Joyce, Everton are expected to pay in the region of €20m (£17m) for the Freiburg midfielder.

Rohl had been valued around £21m earlier in the summer, which could suggest Everton may be striking themselves somewhat of a bargain.

The clock is ticking down on Everton to get the deal over the line, but there will be plenty of excitement on Merseyside if they can secure his signature.

Tomas Soucek was of interest to Everton this summer. Everton News understands the Toffees had another bid rejected last week.

After facing the rejection, the Blues have bounced back quickly and could be about to add their ninth signing of the window.

David Moyes getting his transfer demand

During the pre-season tour of the United States, Moyes shared his demand for nine or 10 Everton signings before the market shut.

With eight new faces already on board, Rohl could be about to make it signing number nine for the Blues.

It is understood that Moyes was keen to add Premier League experience in the midfield, but his interest in Soucek was quickly rebuffed.

Positive moves have already been made in midfield this summer, but Rohl’s arrival could green light Harrison Armstrong to leave Everton on loan.

All eyes on Merseyside will be on whether Everton can now get this deal across the line.
