Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma on transfer deadline day.
The 26-year-old, who has entered the final 12 months of his PSG contract, has been frozen out by the French champions after failing to agree terms over a contract extension.
Donnarumma has subsequently been on the lookout for a new club and a high-profile switch to the Premier League has been mooted for some time, with Man City viewed as the clear frontrunners for his signature.
Man City were only prepared to step up their pursuit of the Italy international until they agreed a deal to sell long-serving shot-stopper Ederson.
It is now understood that the Citizens have struck an agreement with Turkish giants Fenerbahce to sell Ederson for a fee between €13m and €14m.
Pep Guardiola’s side have seemingly moved quickly for Donnarumma, as journalist Fabrizio Romano has given his trademark ‘here we go’, revealing that the ‘deal is done’ for the goalkeeper to make the move to the Etihad Stadium.
Donnarumma, a Champions League winner with PSG last season, is scheduled to undergo a medical in Italy this afternoon (Monday) before signing a long-term contract to become Man City’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
The four-time Ligue 1 champions is then set to arrive in Manchester after representing Italy on international duty in 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Israel.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Man City’s new arrival James Trafford, who returned to his boyhood club from Burnley for around £27m last month and has started between the sticks in each of City's first three Premier League games this season.
