Aston Villa have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United exile Jadon Sancho ahead of the transfer deadline at 7pm on Monday (September 1).

Villa's hierarchy is weighing up a potential move as they hope to strengthen the squad's attacking options after the club failed to score in any of their opening three Premier League games this season.

Several clubs across Europe have shown interest in the England international, who hasn't played a Premier League game for United in more than two years, with Roma recently reported as frontrunners.

Unai Emery's side is the only Premier League team yet to score a goal this campaign, having parted ways with creative talents Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey to Newcastle and Roma, respectively.

Centre-forward Evann Guessand is the only attacking recruit made this summer, signed from OGC Nice for a reported base fee of around £26million after managing 12 goals and eight assists in 33 Ligue 1 matches last season.

Both Villa and United are understood to already be in talks over the services of goalkeeper Emi Martinez, separate to any deal involving Sancho, who is expected to make a move to Old Trafford after not featuring in the Villans' 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday (August 31).

Martinez and Sancho are on similar wages, with the former on £200,000-a-week, though the 25-year-old winger's salary is subject to a 25% reduction after United failed to reach the Champions League.

The former Borussia Dortmund talent has entered the final ten months of his contract with United after an unsuccessful loan with Chelsea saw the west London club pay a £5million penalty fee not to sign him permanently at the end of last season.

Former Manchester City academy product Sancho joined United for £73million four years ago, but his last appearance came in August 2024's Community Shield penalty loss to City.

Elsewhere, Italian champions Napoli enquired about Sancho earlier in the summer, as did rivals Juventus, with Italy appearing to be his most likely destination before talks with both clubs broke down.

Despite being frozen out by Ruben Amorim, the 25-year-old could theoretically stay at Old Trafford for the remainder of his contract, which features an extension clause that is unlikely to be triggered.

Other potential escape routes for the player include moves to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, as both leagues' transfer windows stay open until September 11 and 13, respectively.
