Tariq Lamptey has completed his move to Fiorentina – and been urged to enjoy his new challenge.
The right-back or wing-back is heading to Serie A.
He turns 25 this month and will be keen to push on in a career which has been hindered by injury.
Lamptey signed for [Albion](https://www.theargus.co.uk/sport/albion/) five-and-a-half years ago after a spectacular Premier League debut for Chelsea in a win at Arsenal.
He then burst on to the scene with the Seagulls during the lockdown era having been introduced to the right of defence by Graham Potter.
Arguably his best form for the club came in that period.
Lamptey now joins a Fiorentina side who play with three at the back and wing-backs under head coach Stefano Pioli.
They are competing in Serie A, where they have opened with two draws, and UEFA Conference League.
La Viola will be preparing to face champions Napoli during the current international break.
As the deal was announced, Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler said: “We would like to thank Tariq for his time here at the club.
“He has been a valued player throughout his time, but more than that he is a brilliant professional and person.
“This is a good opportunity for him to play both Serie A and European football. On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to wish him all the very best for the future.”
A former England under-21 international, Lamptey’s time with Albion saw him break into the senior Ghana squad, for whom he played at the last World Cup in Qatar.
Lamptey is believed in Italy to have commanded a fee of about £5.2 million plus potential add-ons.
