Aston Villa are exploring a deal to sign Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott on transfer deadline day, journalist James Pearce has revealed.
The Villans are reportedly in discussions over the structure of the deal for the England U21 international, with a loan move more likely than a permanent switch with less than 10 hours left in the summer window.
Pearce claims Alexander Isak’s arrival from Newcastle is likely to lead to Elliott leaving today if Liverpool receive a suitable proposal for the 22-year-old, who is valued in excess of £50m.
Villa are also working on a deal to sign Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho, with the clubs on the verge of sealing a deadline-day loan deal.

Pearce, writing on X, revealed that Aston Villa are keen on signing Elliott ahead of the transfer deadline on Monday, with Unai Emery eager to add a creative midfielder:
Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2019, has made 149 appearances for the club to date, scoring 15 goals and providing 20 assists.
The 22-year-old midfielder was named Player of the Tournament at this summer’s Under-21 European Championship, helping England win a second successive title.
Villa are believed to have earmarked Elliott as an alternative to both West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta and Marco Asensio, with the Spanish international set to join Fenerbahce.
