Newcastle United have reportedly reached an agreement with Brentford to sign striker Yoane Wissa on transfer deadline day.
The 28-year-old has been pushing to leave the Brentford this summer and he posted a statement on Instagram over the weekend pleading for the Bees to not stand in his way of an exit if a “reasonable offer” was received.
Wissa has made it clear that he is keen to “explore a new challenge” and he is hoping to finalise a move to Newcastle in order to fulfil his dream of playing in the Champions League
Eddie Howe’s side have already failed with two bids to sign long-term target Wissa, with their second offer believed to be worth in the region of £40m.
Newcastle have since **completed the club-record signing**of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart for a reported £69m, but the addition of a new striker is on the cards as they have finally come to an agreement with Liverpool to sell wantaway star Alexander Isak.
Wissa remains high on Newcastle’s wishlist and**journalist Fabrizio Romano** claims that a verbal agreement is now in place with Brentford to sign the DR Congo international.
Romano adds that the Magpies have agreed a transfer package worth £55m - £10m below Brentford’s initial £65m asking price - and Wissa is now on his way to St James’ Park for a medical this afternoon (Monday).
Wissa is therefore set to leave Brentford after scoring 49 goals in 149 appearances across a four-year spell at the club, including 19 Premier League goals last season.
