Jadon Sancho transfer to Aston Villa 'done' but Man Utd lose out on giant flop

Jadon Sancho is set to leave Manchester United for Aston Villa.

Aston Villa have made a late move for the wantaway winger, who also left the Red Devils on loan on Transfer Deadline Day last season. Sancho had moved to Chelsea, had an obligation to buy, but were able to pay a small fee and release him back to United.

Sancho now looks set to join Villa on loan - with Unai Emery's side paying a fee for his services and covering 80 per cent of his wages. As a result, he isn't entirely off United's books, with the Red Devils covering 20 per cent of his wages.

Sancho's contract is up next summer, but United do have the option to extend his stay at Old Trafford.

The winger hasn't made a Premier League appearance for United in over two years.

Chelsea paid a £5million penalty fee to avoid signing Sancho at the end of his season-long loan last term - after he failed to really make an impression while turning out at Stamford Bridge.

He is in the last ten months of his contract with United, and it's highly unlikely that the club will activate the one-year extension if Sancho remains under contract.

Any deal for Sancho will not be connected to United's interest in Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Red Devils are hoping to land a goalkeeper on Transfer Deadline Day.
