‘I think’: Tim Sherwood says Liverpool will sign ‘brilliant’ player as well as Alexander Isak on deadline day

Liverpool are at the centre of a transfer deadline day storm.

Alexander Isak is set to join Liverpool in a British-record transfer, and the Reds may not be finished there.

Indeed, Marc Guehi has been linked to Liverpool, and while Guehi’s move to Anfield isn’t advancing right now, it isn’t completely dead just yet.

Speaking on Sky Sports News (1/9/25 9:20AM), Tim Sherwood has been discussing this potential move to Anfield for Marc Guehi, and he says that he does think this deal will get done.

Sherwood knows all about deadline day deals having been a player and a manager, and he thinks this deal will happen.

Tim Sherwood expects Marc Guehi to join Liverpool

Sherwood spoke about Guehi’s situation heading into the final hours of the summer transfer window.

The pundit claimed that he expects Guehi to make this move, stating that Liverpool will be favourites to win the Premier League if this deal does go through.

Guehi is a ‘brilliant’ defender, via BBC, and he could be a key signing for Liverpool, especially as Ibrahima Konate has had a slow start to this season.

“Ultimately, it’s down to Marc Guehi what he wants to do. Not for one minute do I think this is not done. They know what’s going on, they know what will happen,” Sherwood said.

“I think he turns up this morning and says to Oliver Glasner, ‘I want to leave the football club.’ He has the champions of England at the moment wanting him, so there are no better choices than that. I think Marc has made it clear he wants to go and play for Liverpool.”

“He knows Isak is going to go there today, and if he goes there as well, they are favourites to win the Premier League and it’s an opportunity for him to go and lift the trophy.”

Liverpool’s defensive depth analysed

Liverpool came into this season looking very short at centre-back.

Indeed, after selling Jarell Quansah, the Reds were down to the bare bones at centre-back.

However, if Guehi does join the club, Liverpool will suddenly have an incredible roster of centre-halves on their hands.

Of course, there’s a long way to go to get this deal done, but, if the Reds do manage to complete this transfer, they will have perhaps the most complete squad in world football.
