David Ornstein says Man Utd'total agreement'to sign new goalkeeper on transfer deadline day

Manchester United have now agreed a deal to sign a new goalkeeper after a summer of speculation over the position.

Ruben Amorim will have entered transfer deadline day with a new number one at the very top of his priority list.

This season so far has seen Manchester United suffer due to goalkeeping errors, as both Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana have let Amorim down and cost the team in games.

As a result, deadline day saw Manchester United in the running to sign two goalkeepers, with the decision on which would arrive unclear.

However, now United have reached an agreement for one of the two.

Manchester United pull out of Emiliano Martinez race

Agreeing to sign Lammens means that a deal to sign Emiliano Martinez won’t proceed.

Martinez had agreed on personal terms with United. However, United in Focus understands via Graeme Bailey that ultimately, the deal for Martinez was too hard to complete, but they gave it a go.

This is absolutely the correct decision from United, sticking with the data team who found Lammens to be one of the best emerging goalkeepers in Europe.

The Belgian likely now arrives as an immediate starter, making the future for Onana and Bayindir look grim.
