Taiwo Awoniyi warms up prior to Birmingham City vs Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest are still working on incomings before the transfer window closes, but there continue to be doubts over Taiwo Awoniyi’s future.
On the incoming side, Dilane Bakwa is set for a Forest medical after a £35m deal was agreed with Strasbourg for the French winger, adding another option to Nuno EspÃrito Santo’s attack.
This attack is beginning to look rather busy, though, which has fuelled speculation about whether Awoniyi still has a place in the Forest squad.
After Awoniyi was absent from the squad against West Ham over the weekend which emphasised his position in the pecking order, Nottingham Forest News has spoken exclusively with Graeme Bailey about what could be in store for the Nigerian on deadline day.

Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest future explained
Forest signed Arnaud Kalimuendo and Igor Jesus to support Chris Wood up front, leaving Awoniyi as the fourth-choice striker in a team that only plays one centre-forward.
His natural next step is likely to depart the City Ground, then, and Bailey has provided an update on the situation.
Nottingham Forest News can reveal that the Reds are hoping to move Awoniyi on before the 7 pm deadline. However, should there be no suitors today, there are still options available to move the 28-year-old on.
Monday’s deadline in the Premier League aligns with the rest of Europe’s top leagues, but there are still avenues open for Forest to sell Awoniyi past the deadline in the UK.
How Taiwo Awoniyi could be sold after the transfer window shuts
The consistency across Europe should help the transfer deadline be a clean one, but the Turkish and Saudi Arabian transfer windows remain open long after Monday.
Nottingham Forest News can reveal that Turkey is certainly an option for Awoniyi, with their window open until the 11th of September.
The Saudi Pro League transfer window is open until the 10th of September and while the Reds aren’t currently looking to do business with the league, they do add a complication for European sides to contend with.
It remains to be seen where Awoniyi ends up, but it looks clear that his future is away from the City Ground.
