Yoane Wissa is on Tyneside and all set to complete a deadline day move to St James’ Pak.

The deal is set to be in excess of £50m, with [The Athletic’s](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6587195/2025/09/01/yoane-wissa-newcastle-united-transfer/) David Ornstein reporting that it’s a £50m deal rising to £55m after add-ons, with half of that fee paid now and the other half next summer.

Wissa is undergoing his medical as we speak and us due to sign a four-year contract at the club, with the number nine shirt also set to be handed to the DR Congo star on a day where he and Alexander Isak have both got their wish.

There is a feeling that Newcastle have overpaid slightly to get their man, and David Ornstein’s piece on the 28-year-old adds to that feeling as he reveals that clause inserted into his big-money move.

Ornstein reveals that a 25% sell-on clause has also been included in the deal, meaning Brentford will receive a quarter of any fee Newcastle receive in the future for the French-born striker. Hardly ideal, but perhaps key in our desperate position to ensure Brentford played ball.

It’s a favourable deal for Brentford in many respects, however, the overall package and perceived overpay will be worth it if Wissa fires Newcastle to another successful season in the league and cups, with a deep squad essential to help us cope with the demands of Champions League.

Wissa’s arrival will also take some pressure off club-record signing Nick Woltemade, who could prove to be a perfect partner for the Bees star in a big-man, little-man partnership.
