Manchester United have enjoyed a busy start to deadline day and are hoping to make a fifth signing of the summer before the window closes.

The final day of the transfer window has already been frantic for Manchester United, with several outgoings set to be completed.

Rasmus Hojlund is close to joining Napoli, while Real Betis have agreed a fee for Antony and Jadon Sancho is set to join Aston Villa on loan.

In the meantime, United are choosing between two goalkeeper options to become the fifth major addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad.

United have revived interest in Emi Martinez, while Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens is also a top target for Ineos.

Tim Sherwood urges Man United to complete deadline day deal

With hours remaining, United must choose between Martinez and Lammens. While Martinez brings Premier League experience and leadership, Lammens boasts some of the most impressive data of any goalkeeper in Europe.

Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood was asked about United’s goalkeeping situation, and to him, the answer is clear.

“For me, I would go Emi Martinez. The two Manchester clubs, it looks like Martinez possibly will leave Villa and go to Manchester United,” Sherwood said.

“I would have him over any goalkeeper out there at the moment, I think that would be an unbelievable signing for Man United.”

Sherwood clearly believes Martinez is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but Ineos have proven that they also want to be planning for the long term.

Man United decide on Senne Lammens deal

While Martinez would have brought Premier League experience and World Cup-winning prestige to United’s dressing room, United have gone in another direction.

Despite Sherwood and Gary Neville wanting United to sign Martinez, Ineos have stuck to their transfer strategy and struck a deal for Lammens.

United are set to pay around £18 million for the Royal Antwerp shot-stopper, with the 23-year-old set to arrive in Manchester to finalise his deal.

With Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir still on the books at Old Trafford, Lammens will hope to rise to the top of Amorim’s pecking order and be the new No.1 at United.
