Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur target Manuel Akanji has now responded to Inter Milan’s contract offer.

Even though there are only a matter of hours left until the transfer window closes, reports indicate that Spurs are still exploring a move for an attacker and a centre-back before the deadline. That attacker now looks to be Randal Kolo Muani from PSG.

A few days ago, it emerged that Tottenham had made an approach for Manuel Akanji, with the City star said to be one of three options on the Lilywhites’ radar.

Some sources claimed that Akanji agreed terms with AC Milan, but this was rubbished bySky Italia, who subsequently revealed that Tottenham were ready to challenge Milan for the Man City defender.

Manuel Akanji will join Inter Milan, not Tottenham Hotspur

Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to hand Spurs a big blow by revealing that Manuel Akanji will be swapping Man City for Inter Milan this summer.

The journalist has given the transfer his ‘here we go’ seal of approval, with Inter paying a €2m loan fee and inserting a €15m buy option into the deal.

Akanji himself has agreed to the transfer and will now undergo a deadline-day medical.

Thomas Frank plays down Spurs’ need for a centre-back

Despite the reports linking various centre-backs with a move to N17, the Tottenham head coach does not view the position as a priority.

Frank said that he is happy with the options he has in central defence, even though Radu Dragusin currently remains sidelined with an injury.

However, sources continue to suggest that Spurs want to add one more defender to their squad after loaning out Luka Vuskovic.
