Man Utd wonderkid set for shock loan move to 23rd-placed club

Manchester United graduate Harry Amass will join Championship side Sheffield Wednesday on loan, according to Sky Sports.

The left-back made his debut for the Red Devils during the backend of last season, but has not been part of the manager’s plans this campaign.

Amass has now been permitted to join Wednesday on a temporary basis. The Championship outfit are presently 23rd in the league standings.

The teenager’s move to Wednesday is pending EFL approval. The season-long loan has no option to buy as the 18-year-old still has a future at United.

Wednesday are not a good destination for Amass

The youngster has made good progress since he arrived from Watford a few years ago.

He was competing with Patrick Dorgu for the left wing-back role during the final months of last season as manager Ruben Amorim rotated his options.

However, he has not featured in Amorim’s plans for the current campaign. Dorgu and Diogo Dalot have shared the minutes from the position thus far.

United have also signed Diego Leon from Cerro Porteno. The Paraguayan wonderkid is ahead of Amass in the pecking order at the present point in time.

Hence, a loan exit for Amass does not surprise us, but Wednesday don’t seem a good destination for him.

The club have been in disarray over the past few months, with reports emerging regarding the delay in player payments from owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Chansiri is widely looking to sell the club. With the uncertain atmosphere, we personally worry about how Amass would develop at the Championship outfit.

They have started the worst possible way, with three defeats in three league games. Amass would have been better off joining a promotion chasing club.
