Fabrizio Romano shares the two things Inter must now do to trigger Manuel Akanji's obligatory…

Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest developments on Manuel Akanji’s move from Manchester City to Inter Milan.

Manuel Akanji has been deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester City this season and the last few weeks have seen him linked with a number of clubs.

Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan have both been linked with Akanji, but the Swiss star has snubbed both sides and opted for a move to the blue half of Milan.

Romano declared “here we go” on Akanji to Inter and then provided an update on the details of the deal, including how much City will get for him.

Success for both Manuel Akanji and Inter Milan will lead to £13m sale for Manchester City

Fabrizio Romano took to X to report that City will be getting an initial €2million (£1.7million) just for Akanji’s season-long loan stint at San Siro, along with part of his salary being covered.

Inter have an option to sign Akanji for €15million (£13million), but should both parties excel this season, the option becomes an obligation.

According to Romano, the buy clause becomes mandatory if Akanji plays at least half of Inter’s games this season, and if the team wins the Serie A title.

Why Manchester City will hope the number 13 is not unlucky this time round

Akanji is set to become the 13th player to have represented both Manchester City and Inter Milan.

Plenty of City cult heroes have also played for the Nerazzurri, including Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Belgian women’s football legend Tessa Wullaert has also represented both clubs.

Edin Dzeko

Joao Cancelo

Stefan Jovetic

Mateo Kovacic

David Pizarro

Patrick Vieira

Tessa Wullaert

Aleksandar Kolarov

Ousmane Dabo

Felipe Caicedo

Akanji is a solid player who is clearly highly rated, considering the calibre of the clubs that have been after him.

Hopefully he goes on to shine for Inter, which will be good for him and also for Man City, who stand a better chance of the loan move becoming permanent.
