Aston Villa sign Victor Lindelöf after Man United departure

Aston Villa have announced the signing of Victor Lindelöf.

He has joined the Midlands club on a free transfer after his contract ended at Manchester United in June.

The 31-year-old Swedish international began his senior career at Västerås, where he made his first-team debut at 15.

He played 50 times across four seasons prior to a move to Benfica in 2013.

He won the league title in three out of four seasons at the Lisbon club before moving to Manchester United in 2017.

He proved to be a versatile option across the back line and occasionally in midfield during his eight seasons at the club.

In later seasons, he saw his opportunities decrease due to injuries and competition. He added the FA Cup and EFL Cup in recent years to his trophy collection.

He has signed a two-year deal.
