Widespread sections of the Real Madrid fanbase were quick to make their bemusement clear, during Barcelona’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.

This comes after the Blaugrana were awarded a crucial penalty amid highly controversial circumstances.

Hansi Flick’s troops made the trip to Spain’s capital last night, for a La Liga meeting with the aforementioned Rayo.

When all was said and done, Barcelona were forced to settle for a share of the spoils, owing to a 1-1 draw.

Things, however, could actually have gone a lot worse for the visitors on the evening…

Late in the first-half, Barca were awarded a penalty, for an alleged foul on Lamine Yamal in the Rayo Vallecano box.

Replays showcased the fact that the decision was a harsh one, with Lamine having thrown himself to the ground in dramatic fashion.

The referee in charge of proceedings, however, was unable to check the call on the pitchside monitor, with the VAR system having not been functioning.

Lamine went on to dispatch the ensuing spot-kick, saving Barcelona from what would have been a deserved defeat at Vallecas.

And safe to say, the significance of as much has not been at all lost on those of a Real Madrid persuasion…

Adamant that their side’s arch rivals are continually benefitting from favourable officiating, droves of Blancos supporters were quick to make clear their anger with the current state of La Liga on Sunday:

Every week the Barca game in the league has some controversy where a decision goes their way or something ridiculous happens. Today VAR stopped working when they got a penalty. Are we just suppose to pretend this is okay? What kinda league is this?
