Manchester United will be working overtime to seal three deadline day transfers with a goalkeeper addition the priority. Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens and Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa were the two options in between the sticks with United going for the former.
A switch to Old Trafford for Martinez appeared close with the World Cup winner omitted from Villa's squad that lost to Crystal Palace, on Sunday evening. However, Lammens was ultimately the club's chosen signing, with him considered to be an exciting goalkeeper that has a bright future.
Lammens has since arrived at Carrington to undergo the formalities of his switch, but that's not the only United deal expected to go through over the coming hours.
Antony is set to re-join Real Betis on a permanent basis, while Aston Villa have look set to sign Jadon Sancho on loan. However, there's still work to be done and that is where a transfer deal sheet comes into play.
Introduced into the Premier League back in 2008, deal sheets are used to show that a transfer is officially done - prior to the deadline passing. Once filled in, a further two hours are allowed for the switch to be formally ratified and all the required paperwork completed.
In theory, this means that clubs technically have until 9pm today to complete transfers as long as they can show the transfer was completed at least two hours prior.
The intricacies of a deal sheet are important to know in order for clubs to use them to their advantage with it also stated that a transfer fee, and any potential add-ons, have to be included as part of the information submitted in a deal sheet to be handed those vital extra two hours.
For Sancho, that should not be a major issue considering it is only a straight loan to Villa Park. Antony's situation is perhaps a little more complicated with the structure of the deal and fee resulting in a delay to the Brazilian winger returning to Spain.
However, it looks as though everything has been agreed and finalised which suggests there should be no issues if Real Betis need more time to fully rubber-stamp his signature.
