Fabrizio Romano says 'world-class' Man City target has now signed for Pep Guardiola's side

A “world-class” player Manchester City have been pursuing in the transfer window has signed his contract at the Etihad Stadium, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Citizens have been busy on the transfer front this summer, making a host of signings including Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki and Rayan Ait-Nouri.

However, there has certainly been scope for more signings in the wake of Manchester City’s dismal start to the new season.

Now, an exciting new player is set to join Pep Guardiola’s ranks, with Fabrizio Romano providing a big new development.

Gianluigi Donnarumma signs Manchester City contract

It’s not very often that one of the best players in the world becomes available for a relatively low sum, and Man City have certainly made the most of it.

Gianluigi Donnarumma has been the world’s best goalkeeper over the past 12 months, helping Paris Saint-Germain win their first ever Champions League title.

However, Luis Enrique went on to freeze Donnarumma out due to him not signing a new contract, and City have now got him, according to Romano.

“Gigio Donnarumma has signed his long-term contract at Manchester City,” Romano wrote on X.

This is usually the last step before the all-important official announcement, which sees the club unveil their new player.

Romano has been at the forefront of the Donnarumma saga, declaring “here we go” on Donnarumma to Man City on Monday morning.

How much Manchester City are set to pay for Gianluigi Donnarumma

Donnarumma is a “world-class” goalkeeper with a multitude of trophies to his name and, at just 26 years of age, he’s yet to reach his peak.

In addition, the fact his PSG contract expires next summer means his valuation has dropped significantly, meaning City set to get a bargain.

Italian football journalist Orazio Accomando recently claimed that Man City are set to pay €35million (£30.3million) plus €4million (£3million) in add-ons.

Even though Galatarasay registered a late interest in Donnarumma, the player is now set to strengthen Guardiola’s ranks.
