Manchester United players have strongly suggested that Ruben Amorim should turn to a “key member of the squad” going forward, according to stunning reports.
The Red Devils are ninth in the Premier League table and Manchester United picked up their first win of the 2025-26 season ahead of the September international break.
Ruben Amorim watched his side snatch three Premier League points in dramatic fashion, with United defeating Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
United received a penalty against Burnley in the dying stages of the Premier League contest and Bruno Fernandes successfully converted the injury-time spot-kick.
The Red Devils’ Premier League result on the weekend earned United manager Amorim some much-needed breathing room after a tough start to the season.

Ruben Amorim has now been sent a clear-cut message from his Man Utd players about Tom Heaton
Ruben Amorim has already faced issues with his main pick between the sticks for Manchester United, with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana both failing to impress.
Andre Onana missed United’s pre-season due to injury and Altay Bayindir has been able to secure first-team minutes ahead of the 29-year-old Cameroon international.
However, Bayindir has struggled to convincingly dethrone Onana from the United No 1 spot and Amorim has had to defend the Turkey international over his mistakes.
According to The Sun, United players are now keen for Amorim to consider turning to veteran player Tom Heaton ahead of Onana and Bayindir for the short term.
“Judging it on performances on the training pitch, some of the lads think Tom deserves a chance,” an unnamed source told the newspaper.
“He’s very experienced, looks after himself and is a key member of the squad.
“The other two are both struggling at the moment, so why not give Tom a go?”

Tom Heaton remains a viable Man Utd option for Ruben Amorim and continues to play a key role at Old Trafford
Tom Heaton extended his contract with United in the summer and the 39-year-old Red Devils shot-stopper is a well-liked and well-respected figure at Old Trafford.
The former England international remains an influential presence in the United dressing room, with Heaton being one of the senior players in a leadership role.
Amorim could always turn to the experienced Heaton, who returned to Old Trafford in 2021 on a free transfer after his contract with Aston Villa expired, going forward.
However, Heaton’s services might not be necessary as a replacement for Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana with United’s pursuit of Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens.
