Leeds United have had a decent start to the new Premier League season. The Whites have managed to take four points from a possible nine, keeping two clean sheets in the process.
The club seem to play their best football in front of their home crowd. Leeds took the game to Everton in the opener, and should have scored more, but were let down due to poor finishing. In the game against Newcastle, Daniel Farke’s side managed to neutralize Eddie Howe’s team for most of the 90 minutes. However, in that game, the lack of a creative spark was evident.

Reports around the club suggested that Leeds could be in the market for a number 10 and a winger. Daniel Farke has wanted a creative option in the side for a long time now. But as of Monday, just before the transfer deadline, it looks like Harry Wilson will be the only signing through the door at Elland Road.

Over the weekend, rumours started to appear surrounding a possible move for Gustavo Hamer. The Sheffield United star has been a long-term target of Farke’s and this summer seemed like the perfect time to move.
Since the weekend, the news surrounding a possible deal has died down. And on deadline day, Leeds have chosen to pursue a move for Fulham’s Harry Wilson instead. According to The Star, Hamer was never a concrete target for the whites, who had their eye on other options outside the midfielder. It has also been reported that Sheffield United have officially closed the door on any possible move for the playmaker – he will stay at Bramall Lane this summer.
Bad news for Leeds
The Whites not even attempting to make a move for Hamer epitomizes this transfer window. These past few weeks have just been sloppy from the club. Missing out on all your first choice signings is not ideal. It shows that the owners did not want to push for quality.
Leeds need that spark in midfield, and Hamer can give that. Daniel Farke will now have to make due with his current options until January.
