Everton didn’t have the most exciting deadline day as David Moyes was holding out for one more player.
The soon-to-be signing of Merlin Rohl took the headlines in terms of Everton’s final day of the 2025 summer window.
After the German has shown promise in the Bundesliga, the Scotsman has seen the defensive midfielder as the final piece to the puzzle.
Rohl will join for just over £21 million, as a loan-to-buy option is the structure of the 23-year-old’s deal.
But the other name that took the limelight was Barcelona’s Hector Fort, as the final update has been given on the Spanish right-back.

Everton’s last target Hector Fort will sign for Elche after deadline
The need for a right-sided defender was clear, as Jake O’Brien has once again had to take on the reins of the position.
There was hope for a signing in this area, as Fort was on Everton’s radar and looked the most likely arrival to fill in as Everton looked desperate.
Things were looking to escalate as Fort’s move to Mallorca collapsed, with there a chance of a last-minute bid from the Toffees.
Unfortunately though, Fort was getting closer to joining fellow LaLiga side Elche, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, and it seems like the Blues were ultimately too late.
This was then doubled down by Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that Fort has agreed a loan move to the Spanish outfit.
It looks as though Rohl is going to be the only signing from the end of the window, in what was an uneventful deadline day, and Moyes might regret not doing something sooner.
Everton might regret not signing right-back at the start of window
At the start of the summer, a right-back was certainly a point of focus as Ashley Young was released on a free.
O’Brien was the person to call on in the second half of the season, and it was clearly an area of concern.
Despite Moyes identifying right back as a ‘problem’ in June, it still remains an issue after the deadline, much to the Toffees boss’ frustration.
It could be one of the owners’ regrets, as with Nathan Patterson also staying at Everton now, he could be someone they turn to again.
For now, Seamus Coleman, O’Brien, and Patterson is where they will have to look, but once January comes around, they must sort this out.
