Youssef Chermiti has left Everton for Rangers.
The forward completed the move on transfer deadline day after talks over a loan deal began last week. They progressed to a permanent move for a fee of around £8m, with a further £2m in add-ons.
His departure brings an end to a miserable two years on Merseyside for Chermiti, who did not score for Everton. Opportunities proved hard to come by in his first season as Everton battled relegation amid two points deductions with a threadbare squad. Then manager Sean Dyche later conceded a loan move would have been better for the Portugal youth international but that he could not risk his departure.
Last season, Chermiti started pre-season well before suffering a serious foot injury in training. It cost him the first half of the campaign. A second injury in January then left him absent when issues elsewhere could have given him the opportunity to impress David Moyes.
At Rangers, the 21-year-old will link up with Kevin Thelwell and Dan Purdy, the recruitment chiefs at Everton who signed him. Both moved to Ibrox this summer. Upon confirmation of his departure, Everton said: "Everyone at Everton thanks Youssef for his service with the club and wishes him all the best for the future."
