Isak spotted leaving Liverpool with record deal still not confirmed

Alexander Isak has left Liverpool's training ground to join up with his international teammates, despite his British-record transfer deal still not having been announced by the club.

The Swedish striker made clear his intention to leave current club Newcastle United earlier in the transfer window, with Premier League champions Liverpool circling for his signature throughout the summer.

Isak is understood to have completed his medical and undergone all of the relevant media duties during a dramatic deadline day, having agreed a British-record £125m move to Anfield.

However, more than two hours after the 7pm deadline, the 25-year-old is still yet to be confirmed as a Liverpool player.

Isak has now been pictured at John Lennon airport in the city, ahead of a flight to join up with the Sweden squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

Is Isak's move to Liverpool in jeopardy?

Liverpool fans have already seen one high-profile deadline day deal collapse, with their attempts to prise Marc Guehi away from Crystal Palace ultimately proving unsuccessful.

The England international had undergone a medical for the club and there was agreement from all sides as part of a deal sheet that had been submitted, only for Palace to withdraw from the arrangement after they were unable to secure a replacement in time.

However, there is not expected to be similar drama with Isak, and official confirmation of the record-shattering signing is still expected imminently.

The striker will become the most expensive player in British football history when he makes the switch, while the £125m fee would also see Liverpool set a new record for the most money spent by an English club in a single transfer window.

Arne Slot's side also brought in Florian Wirtz for a fee in excess of £100m, while Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giovanni Leoni have joined for significant fees too.
