DEFENDER Issa Kabore has joined Wrexham on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The 24-year-old, a Burkina Faso international, has been capped 49 times by his country – scoring twice – including being named Young Player of the Tournament after claiming three assists as The Peregrine Falcons reached the semifinals of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
A right-back who can also play right wing-back, Kabore signed for Manchester City in 2020, and has spent time out on loan with Mechelen in Belgium, Troyes and Marseilles in France, Luton Town in the Premier League in 2023/24, Benfica in Portugal and Werder Bremen in Bundesliga.
He has made 137 club appearances across his career, and becomes the 12th new addition to the Wrexham squad this summer.
On signing, he said: “I’m feeling good, I’m very happy to be a Wrexham player. The project here is so amazing. Wrexham is a family Club, a fantastic Club, and that’s why I’m here. I will give everything for this team.”
Last season, Kaboré was an unused substitute as City won the Community Shield, before a loan move to Portuguese Primieira Liga side Benfica - where he made seven appearances.
He completed the campaign by playing nine times for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and is yet to make his first City appearance.
Wrexham AFC manager Phil Parkinson told the club: “We’re delighted to bring Issa to the Club. He’s a young and dynamic player who will add real energy to the squad.
"He goes away on international duty tomorrow morning, but we will welcome him back when he returns.”
