The transfer window has closed, and Vitor Pereira alongside supporters of the Old Gold will likely feel disappointed.
The manager had wanted a midfielder, and a late move for free agent Josh Brownhill failed after he rejected Wolves.
Other targets like Nicolas Raskin opted to stay at Rangers, and Middlesbrough stood firm on their stance to keep Hayden Hackney.
It is impossible for Wolves to buy a midfielder now, but they could find a solution in the free agent market.
Although this player would have to satisfy the homegrown quota unless a squad member secures a move to Turkey, Portugal or Saudi Arabia as the transfer window is still open in those countries.
We have identified three players they could look at.

Three free agents Wolves could still sign after the deadline
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain might not be the most inspiring name, but he would bring experience to the Wolves midfield.
He is a Premier League and Champions League winner, and spent the majority of his career in the top flight. He has recently terminated his contract at Besiktas and is available to be snapped up on a free transfer.
MORE WOLVES STORIES
Wolves were previously linked with Oxlade-Chamberlain back in 2020 when he was still at Liverpool.
However, his past injury issues may be a concern, and at 32 years old, his body is certainly not getting any younger.
The former Liverpool man’s wages could also prove to be an issue. According to the BBC, Oxlade-Chamberlain was on around £42,000 a week, with a further £8,600 for each appearance he made.
If signed on similar money, he would be one of the Old Gold’s highest earners.

Josh Dasilva
Josh Dasilva is another experienced Premier League option Wolves could look into.
The midfielder has spent the majority of his career at Brentford, but after recent injury issues was let go as a free agent.
He has not featured in a competitive game since January 2024, but was he a key player for Brentford in 2022/2023.
The player was still conducting rehab at the Bees’ facilities as of June, and there are no reports on his recovery or return date.
However, it could be one for Fosun to look into. The midfielder is still just 26 years old, and if fit or close to a return, Wolves can provide him with a chance to showcase his quality once again.

Christian Eriksen
This one may be a little ambitious, and highly improbable.
If a player such as Sasa Kalajdzic can secure a loan move away from Wolves, then it would open the door for someone like Christian Eriksen to come in.
The Dane has recently left Manchester United following the expiry of his contract, and Wolves fans will no doubt know about his quality.
He has spent 11 years of his career in the Premier League, and has previously opted to join similar calibre teams.
He joined newly promoted Brentford for six months in 2021/2022, suggesting he could be open to doing the same now.
The wage demands might be quite high, and that will no doubt put Fosun off. But with no transfer fee, and potentially offering him on a one-year deal, surely his quality is worth a punt?
He is certainly the most appealing name on the list of free agents available.
