Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner reportedly told the club's boardroom officials that he would have offered his resignation had they let captain Marc Guehi depart for Liverpool in the final hours of the transfer window - with the Eagles being unable to find a replacement for the club icon after they had agreed a £35million fee with the Premier League champions over his exit.
Glasner has already seen the likes of star men Joachim Andersen, Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze depart in his 18 months at the club, and the sale of Guehi without anyone coming in to replace the England international could have ultimately seen his own exit from Selhurst Park.

The report by Chris Williams on X (formerly Twitter) states that Glasner offered an ultimatum to Palace's hierarchy in the final hours of transfer deadline day - stating that the Austrian told Eagles chiefs he would have offered his resignation had they let Guehi depart without a suitable replacement.
Liverpool's senior staff are now set to travel back from London after negotiations were handled. It's expected that a deal for the January transfer window will be discussed over the next month between the two clubs, though that would be at a 'severely lower price'.
With a deal being vetoed, it means Guehi will be available for the first half of Palace's Premier League campaign at the very minimum, as well as the entirety of their Conference League league phase campaign, with their final fixture in the continental competition coming just before the January transfer window opens.
Whilst it is uncertain whether Liverpool will make an offer for his services in the winter, Palace could even opt to keep Guehi until his contract runs out if they are successful in the Premier League and Europe by that point - and so Liverpool may have to wait until Guehi's contract runs out before they can finally add him to their ranks.
