Everton star Idrissa Gueye has reacted to their deadline day business.

David Moyes wanted two additions to his Everton squad, but ultimately only Merlin Rohl came through the doors at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It was a disappointing end to the transfer window for the Scotsman as the Friedkin Group failed to bring in a right-back or a centre-back to bolster his team.

However, there was also a significant departure as a forward left the Blues.

Idrissa Gueye sends message as Youssef Chermiti exit confirmed

Everton sold Youssef Chermiti to Rangers on deadline day in an £8million deal after he failed to really make an impact on Merseyside.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Portuguese forward took to Instagram on 1 September to announce his exit and thank supporters, saying: “Thank you, Everton.”

Gueye reacted by commenting on the post, saying “I’ll miss you” with a blue heart emoji.

Youssef Chermiti would never have made it at Everton

It was the right move for all parties to move on, Chermiti was never going to make it on Merseyside unfortunately.

He joined with much fanfare when he joined the Goodison Park club in a £15m move from Sporting in 2023.

Chermiti made his Blues debut in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Wolves in August 2023

Played 24 matches for the Blues, but only 295 minutes

One goal in three Under-21 games for the Toffees

However, he could never quite put it together and failed to score in 24 senior appearances for the Blues, but he was never really given a proper opportunity.

Most of his appearances for the club came from the bench, so it would not be fair to make an assessment of his ability based on that.

His injury record summed up his time with the Toffees, as he missed the same number of matches as he played for the club, which meant he could not put together a run in the side.

He leaves Everton with the well-wishes of everybody to reunite with former Blues supremo Kevin Thelwell at Ibrox, and hopefully, he can revive his career after a dismal stint on Merseyside.
