Every transfer Leeds United missed out on this summer despite over £100m spend

Leeds United will be happy with the start they have made to the new Premier League campaign. Daniel Farke's side have one win, one draw and one loss to their name so far, which is the same as Manchester United, for perspective.

Saturday's 0-0 draw with Newcastle United proved the Whites can mix it with the big boys, especially given their extensive summer business. Ten new players have arrived at Elland Road so far, with the latest suggestion that Leeds are not done yet as we approach the final hours of the window.

But it has been a summer of somewhat frustration, especially given the names linked with a switch to West Yorkshire. Here, LeedsLive recaps the players who Farke has missed out on, as his side battles to retain their Premier League status...

Facundo Buonanotte

Facundo Buonanotte appeared to be a player, on the surface, who looked tailor-made to help Leeds' quest to remain in the Premier League.

But after big boys Chelsea came knocking, the offer proved too lucrative and the Brighton man instead opted for North London, completing a season-long loan deal.

Igor Paixao

An exciting young forward with Champions League experience, Igor Paixao appeared to be another superb target after excelling at Feyenoord in the Eredivisie last year.

But Marseille swooped in and, with the lure of European football to offer, Paixao opted for a move to France, now playing alongside the likes of Mason Greenwood and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Rodrigo Muniz

A bid of £32m was submitted for Rodrigo Muniz early in the January window, with their real confidence that Leeds had found their man in attack.

But having seen that offer rebuffed, the Whites pivoted to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin and instead dropped their interest in the forward.

Manor Solomon

A man who was extremely popular during his loan spell last season, a permanent move for Manor Solomon seemed to be easy on paper.

But the player is keen to stay in North London, and given he is under contract until 2028, any such move has proved difficult across the summer. Solomon is also said to be now in talks with Oliver Glasner's Crystal Palace side after they lost Eberechi Eze to Arsenal.

Bilal El Khannouss

Having held talks with Leicester City man Bilal El Khannouss, confidence appeared high that the Whites could manufacture a summer move for the talented playmaker.

But given the Foxes' aims to make an immediate return to the top flight, El Khannouss appears to be heading to Stuttgart on loan, with a view to a permanent deal for £20m..

Dilane Bakwa

United look at exploring a move for Strasbourg star Dilane Bakwa, given his impressive displays in Ligue 1 last campaign.

Instead, Bakwa seems to be heading to Nottingham Forest, with once again the lure of European football no doubt playing a part in his decision.

Emi Buendia

Leeds saw a loan offer rebuffed for Emi Buendia last week, and it isn't the first time the Aston Villa man has been linked with a switch to Elland Road.

That being said, with both Jadon Sancho and Harvey Elliott heading to Villa Park, a late switch could still be on the cards for Buendia.

Habib Diarra

Senegalese midfielder Habib Diarra is one of two players who opted for Sunderland, after Leeds saw a reported bid of £22m rejected prior to his switch to the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats ended up paying £30m for the 21-year-old, which tells you Strasbourg took the right offer in terms of profit margins.

Noah Sadiki

Noah Sadiki is another who joined Sunderland instead of Leeds, and even opened up on why he picked Regis Le Bris' side over Farke's men.

"I immediately realised that I had ended up in a whole new world here," he told Sunderland's club media after signing. "The transfer was leaked on July 2nd and I knew two days earlier that there was interest."
