Alexander Isak now explains his 'motivation' for leaving Newcastle United for Liverpool

Alexander Isak has finally spoken after his move from Newcastle United to Liverpool went through on transfer deadline day.

The 25-year-old got his wish, with Isak joining Liverpool for a British record fee of £125million.

Newcastle’s statement on Isak was blunt, as they confirmed that the Sweden international had left the club to move to Anfield. They did not wish him luck after three outstanding seasons, nor has Isak thanked them for giving him the platform to become the player he is.

It brings an end to a summer-long saga that has tarnished Isak’s reputation at St James’ Park. He was viewed as a Newcastle United legend after his Carabao Cup final heroics, but now he is public enemy number one on Tyneside.

Isak will not care. His disrespectful actions worked, and now the striker has detailed the reasons why he was so desperate to sign for Liverpool.

Alexander Isak wants to ‘create history’ after leaving Newcastle United for Liverpool

Following confirmation of his move from Newcastle to Liverpool, Isak has spoken to their official YouTube channel.

He was asked to explain why he wanted to join the Reds.

“I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is,” he said.

“The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies.

“That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.”

The Alexander Isak words that will infuriate Newcastle United fans even more

The damage is done between Isak and Newcastle United. With the way he acted this summer, there was no way back.

That is why Newcastle decided to sell Isak, lowering their valuation by £25million on the final day of the transfer window.

The club were backed into a corner by Liverpool and Isak, and they ultimately decided it was in the club’s best interests to effectively fold under the pressure. As infuriating as it is, that should prove to be the right decision.

Newcastle can now move on, but there is something that Isak has said that will anger Toon fans even more.

During his first interview as a Liverpool player, Isak said: “I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work.”

This comes after he downed tools at St James’ Park, choosing not to go on Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia and missing every friendly before sitting out the opening three Premier League games of the new campaign.
