Former Leeds United star Manor Solomon sends message as transfer confirmed amid late snub

Former Leeds United forward Manor Solomon has signed for La Liga side Villarreal.

The 26-year-old was linked with a permanent return to Elland Road throughout the summer, following an impressive loan spell at the Whites last season. Indeed, Solomon scored 10 goals and added 13 assists in 41 matches as he helped the Whites win the Championship title and earn promotion back to the Premier League.

However, Leeds made the decision against re-signing Solomon and instead opted to move for Noah Okafor in a £18million deal from AC Milan. Daniel Farke's side then had another chance to look at the Israel international last week after failing to sign Brighton's Facundo Buonanotte, but once again the Whites turned it down.

Solomon's future had been left uncertain after not playing a single minute during Tottenham's first four competitive matches this season. He missed the first three fixtures, including the Super Cup final, with a calf injury before returning to the squad to face Bournemouth on Saturday, but he remained as an unused substitute.

There had been talk that Solomon was closing in on a late loan move from Spurs to Crystal Palace, but, despite both clubs signing a deal sheet that gave them another two hours to complete it, the Eagles pulled out.

That appeared to leave Solomon in limbo, but he still managed to secure a new employer before the deadline. Villarreal, who have qualified for this season's Champions League, confirmed the 11th-hour signing of Solomon on Monday evening, with the ex=Fulham man set to spend the rest of the 2025/26 campaign on loan there.

In a statement, Villarreal said: "Villarreal CF and Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement for the loan of Manor Solomon, who will play for the Yellows during the 2025/26 season.

"Manor Solomon (Kfar Saba, Israel, 24/07/99) is a skilful right-footed attacker who plays as a left winger. He is known for his dribbling ability and capacity to beat opponents in one-on-one situations. He also stands out for his speed and for possessing a fantastic shot from mid-range.

"The Israeli forward has represented Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham FC, Leeds United, Shakhtar Donetsk and Maccabi Petah Tikva. With the Ukrainian side, he was crowned league, cup and super cup champion. During his time there, he played a total of 106 matches, scoring 22 goals and providing nine assists.

"He also shone last season with Leeds United in the Championship, leading the Whites to promotion to the Premier League and contributing to this achievement with 10 goals and 12 assists. Solomon is also an Israel international, having earned 44 caps and scored seven goals for his national team. Welcome, Manor!"

And after his loan to Villarreal was confirmed, Solomon took to Instagram to react to his move.

Solomon, who has 296,000 followers, said: "Been crazy 24 hours but I'm really happy and ready for my new challenge," alongside a handshake emoji.

He also shared another message, as translated from Spanish to English: "Happy to be here, see us soon," accompanied with a flexed bicep and yellow love heart emoji."

The former Whites loanee could make his Villarreal debut against Atletico Madrid after the international break. The Yellow Submarine then travel to Tottenham in the Champions League. Solomon's home debut is expected to be against Osasuna on Saturday, September 21.
