Sven Botman sends emotional message to Alexander Isak after leaving Newcastle for Liverpool

Sven Botman has become the first Newcastle United player to publicly send Alexander Isak a message following his move to Liverpool.

It has been confirmed that Isak has joined Liverpool from Newcastle United, becoming the most expensive player in British football history.

The £125million deal went through on Monday evening, with Newcastle releasing a short statement to announce the transfer.

It brings an end to an incredibly unsavoury situation, as Isak gets his dream move to Liverpool by any means necessary.

While his relationship with the Newcastle United fans has been completely ruined, Toon defender Sven Botman has wished his former teammate luck for the next chapter in his career.

They spent three years together at St James’ Park, having both joined the club during the 2022 summer transfer window.

During that time, they helped Newcastle United qualify for the Champions League twice and win the Carabao Cup.

What Alexander Isak said about Sven Botman in January 2024

The bond between Isak and the Newcastle United fans is broken. However, he will still have a relationship with members of the Newcastle United squad.

That is certainly true of Botman given the message he has posted to social media, at a time when he knows exactly how the Toon Army feel about his friend.

Botman and Isak’s friendship goes both ways, with the striker speaking incredibly highly of the former Lille centre-back almost two years ago.

During an interview in January 2024, Isak admitted Botman was his best friend in football.

“I’d probably say Sven Botman [is my best friend in football,” he said.

“He sits next to me in the locker room. He’s a great guy. We spend a lot of time together.”

Their friendship will continue, but they are no longer teammates. Instead, Botman and Isak will be opponents.

The first time they are scheduled to face each other is 31st January 2025. That is when Newcastle travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League.
